There are lots of audit firms you will find in Bangladesh but all are not authorized by Bangladesh Bank. Bangladesh Bank excluded 36 audit firms from the list and these 36 audit firms are not eligible to audit because they got faced allegations of several types of irregularities.
It is needed to mention that in 2017, there were 75 eligible audit firms but now total qualified audit firms are only 41 who are acceptable to work for the banks and financial institutions. So, these 41 CA firms are qualified for auditing listed banks by the list of the BB and the BSEC (Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission).
Again, more than 200 audit firms are registered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) but only 41 are permitted to work for financial institutions.
Moreover, it is needed to know that there are 30 listed banks and 23 NBFIs (Nonbank Financial Institution) listed on the stock exchange.
