It was the first Islamic Bank in Southeast Asia, founded on March 13, 1983.

It is traded on Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges. As of December 31, 2019, the Bank’s Paid-up Capital was Tk. 16,099.91 million and its Authorized Capital was Tk. 20,000.00 million.
