Tourist Places in Tangail
Pakutia Zamindar Bari
The Zamindar Bari complex is made up of three main buildings. One of these three is much bigger than the other two. The largest structure is now employed as a degree college, and the college authorities also controls the other two structures. They have, however, rented Pakutia Zamindar Bari to another company. The Tangail district of Nagarpur governs Pakutia Zamindar Bari.
In the early nineteenth century, Ramkrishna Shaha Mondol constructed the Zamindari. His two sons are Radha Gobinda and Brindaban Chandra. Radha Gobinda had no children, whilst Brindaban Chandra had three. Their names are Brojendro Mohon, Upendra Mohon, and Jogendra Mohon. Radha Gobinda, who had no children, adopted his brother’s second son and finally gave him his entire fortune.
In 1915, these three brothers built three unique buildings for themselves (almost 100 years from now). Each structure is adorned with incredible artwork and design, gorgeous columns, and small statues.
Even now, every inch of the structure has a lovely design that everyone admires. The top of the building now has a spectacular sculpture type architecture that is rich in design, concept, and artwork (more if I consider the building period). Aside from them, there are other large ponds in the garden of the structure.
The Zamindars were friendly to the townspeople. For their father and uncle, they established Brindaban Chandra Radha Gobinda School (short B.C.R.G. School) in 1916. They departed the country during the 1947 partition. In 1967, the government established B.C.R.G Degree College atop these structures to honor the welcoming Zamindar family.
How to go Pakutia Zamindar Bari:
This Zamindar Bari is located within the Tangail district, although it will be more convenient for you if you enter through the Saturia. The Saturia bus departs from Gabtoli Bas Terminal. The bus fare is 60 taka per person, subject to change. Saturia will take about 90-120 minutes to reach.
It will be a 30 minute CNG car ride from Saturia.

Nagarpur Zamindar Bari is situated within the Nagarpur Upazila of Tangail district. This location is situated in a fascinating neighborhood. It is bordered on the east by the river Dhaleswari and on the west by the river Jamuna.
There may have been a naval route between Kolkata and Nagarpur at the time. Now that the Zamindari system has vanished, it has also followed this path.
Jodunath Chowdhury established the Nagarpur Zamindari during the nineteenth century. It is currently a vast complex known as Choudhury Bari as well. They are extremely helpful to the residents of their region. Suresh Chandra Ray Choudhury, a descendant of the family, was the club’s first secretary.
The government has constructed the Nagarpur Mohila Degree College with the assistance of these excellent candidates. There are likely tens of thousands of bats resting and departing in response to the presence of people, causing a strong wind gust.

This historic zamindar home was constructed by Wazed Ali Khan Panni on the Putia River in Kortia, Tanzania. Several old structures and ponds surround the zamindar’s home, which is situated on a 1,000-by-500-meter plot.
The main entrance to the zamindar’s residence has been secured, and no one from the outside is permitted to enter. Therefore, when you visit this manor, you should ensure that you can enter. The zamindar mansion was open to the public on two Eid days other than the first and twelfth days of the Bengali month of Baishakh, according to neighbors.
There is an antique mosque close to the zamindar residence. The mosque has two rows of eight domes.

4. Hemnagar Rajbari/ হেমনগর রাজবাড়ী
Although Hemnagar Zamindar Bari has all the criteria to become one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bangladesh, it has not established a strong reputation and few visitors visit. Initially, only locals frequented this location. In 1890, Hemchandra Chowdhury, a prominent Hindu zamindar of Tangail, constructed this zamindar mansion.
Because there are two little statues of fairies in front of the main structure of the zamindarbari, locals refer to it as the fairy building. The building in the rear of this zamindar home is presently uninhabited. There are around twenty-five rooms within the zamindar residence.
The zamindar commanded the people in his region with an iron fist and required them to abide by specific norms, such as walking barefoot with his head lowered in submission and walking upside down when passing past his home. In response to this animosity and hostility, the zamindars deserted their homes during the partition.
In addition to the zamindar’s original residence, there were seven big ponds, of which only a couple remain. According to the locals, there were seven ponds for the zamindar’s seven sons and daughters. Dhanbari Zamindarbari is extremely close to this location.

Nawab Ali Chowdhury built this residence in 1919 to host Lord Ronaldshay. He arrived by steamer near Koyra and was greeted by 30 elephants.
During East Pakistan’s tenure, Nawab Hasan Ali Chowdhury was the Industrial Minister. He was also an MP in 1978. His daughter Saiyeda Asheka Akbar served in the Parliament after his death in 1981. This information reveals their authority and explains why the palace is still in good condition.

7. Atiya Jame Masjid/আতিয়া জামে মসজিদ

A tiny river called Louhjong flows near the mosque, 6 miles from Tangail. The mosque is 18 x 12 meters. The Atiya Mosque has four round domes, the largest on the western side. The remaining three little domes are positioned to the east of the mosque. The main dome appears to be the imam and the rest are musalli.

8. Tangail Sarees
Tangail is famous for manufacturing patterned silk fabrics known as Tangail sarees. Most homes participate in some kind of textile production, including weaving. Hindus who are born weavers weave Tangail sarees. The men weave, while the women prepare the yarn, wind the bobbins, and sometimes make the reeds themselves.
It was inspiring to watch how the looms are altered to create complex designs while seeing Tangail’s weaving workshops. Silk Tangail sarees are currently resurrected. Figured Tangail sarees are made similarly to Jamdani sarees by sketching and weaving extra weft. A plain pick is put after each extra weave in figured design, unlike Jamdani.
Its latest innovation is its decor. Most of these sarees are woven. Along with sizing on cotton yarn, Tangail sarees are finished using starch. The paper finish appearance of this saree is determined by its surface roughness. Reeds are used on looms to space out threads toward the front. Every minor dent will show up on the fabric, thus the reed must be flawless.
9. Porabarir Chomchom/ পোড়াবাড়ির চমচম
When you hear the name of Tangail’s Porabari Chamcham, your mouth immediately fills with water. As the king of sweets, Porabari has a great flavor and two melavars. The name of a little settlement is Porabari. Approximately 7 kilometers away from the city of Tangail. This modest, tranquil town is surrounded by beauty. This river’s principal tributary is the Dhaleshwari river, whose water flows into this river. Who the original Chamcham craftsman was remains unknown.
