University of Science and Technology Chittagong (USTC) was Bangladesh’s first private university.
On May 13, 1989, a private charity sponsored the university. Initially known as the Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS), it was renamed USTC in 1992 following the passage of the Private University Act. Dr Nurul Islam Memorial Institute of Applied Health Science renamed in Jan 2018.
