How to Get E-Passport in Bangladesh?

An electronic passport, also known as an e-passport or an electronic passport, is a passport that has a microprocessor chip and an antenna that are both electronic and that combine the individual’s biometric information, such as a photo, fingerprint, and eye-iris scan. Those who possess an e-passport are exempt from the requirement of waiting in line to have their visas checked upon entering the country. Instead, they can breeze through immigration utilizing the automated gates accessible to them.

Applying for an e-passport now only requires an internet connection and can be done from virtually any place in the country. Let’s find out how to get an electronic passport in Bangladesh, shall we?

Online apply process for an e-passport

Enter the website “www.epassport.gov.bd” and choose the first tab on the left labeled “Apply Online” to begin the application process.

As soon as the name of the police station close to the district and current address is submitted, the name of the neighborhood passport office will first be displayed. This is the place where both the e-passport application form and the e-passport itself must be picked up.

During the application process, the applicant must give their name, date of birth, current and permanent address, job, national ID number, information from their previous passport (if they had one), name and job of their parents, contact number, emergency contact, etc. And the system will also need information about the bank account where the application fee was sent.

Also, at the end of the registration process, the system will ask applicants to pick a date and time that works for them to give their biometrics from a list of days that the Passport Office has set aside.

When the applicant has finished registering, he or she needs to print out his or her e-passport application form, which includes the biometric date schedule.

Cost to get an e-passport

There are 3 separate formats for the delivery of electronic passports. After the allotted number of working days have passed since the application was submitted, the applicants should be in line to obtain their electronic passports.

  1. Regular: 21 working days
  2. Express: 10 working days
  3. Super Express: 2 working days

Bangladesh passport offices cannot accept online payments. Sonali Bank, Trust Bank, One Bank, Dhaka Bank, Premier Bank, and Bank Asia accept payments from applicants.

The e-passport bank deposit form and registration form must match the applicant’s full name. A copy of the NID card and an application form summary are needed now. After applying online, download the summary.

The applicant must acquire the bank deposit receipt after depositing the e-passport issuing or re-issued fee in person.

Documents need to get an e-passport

There is a printed application form that may be downloaded and completed offline. Then, you’ll need to include a passport photo, a copy of your NID card, and a receipt from your bank showing that you made a deposit.

A photocopy of a parent’s NID card and the applicant’s birth certificate are required from anyone under the age of 18.

Applicants must bring these essential papers to the passport office on the biometrics appointment date. The Passport Agency accepts applications for electronic passports without the need for notarization of supporting papers.

Proof of address, a birth certificate, a copy of the police report (if the applicant’s passport has been lost), a certificate of no objection, an office identification card (if the applicant is employed), a certificate of completion (if the applicant is a student), etc. may be required.

However, on the day of the biometric screening, the applicant must bring both the original NID card and the original passport (if applicable) to the screening center.

Conclusion

It is important to remember that the application cannot be edited once it has been submitted. With a valid NID card, you can only apply to one place at a time. All information must match that on the national ID and/or the most recent passport at the time of application (if applicable). All information and supporting documents submitted with an electronic passport application must be genuine. A valid electronic passport cannot be obtained in that case.
