Capacity:

South Asian Airlines began flying an interior route in 1999, using an American-made Robinson (R-44) helicopter. It now uses an American-made Robinson R-44 helicopter and a Raven-2 chopper.

These helicopters can reach speeds of up to 600 kilometers per hour and can travel at speeds of up to 190 kilometers per hour. They can transport 3 passengers and a maximum weight of 1,134 kg.

Square Air began commercial operations in April 2010 and now transports two types of medical and general passengers in a Bell-206 helicopter with a capacity of five passengers. A new Robinson-6 is on the way.

Some general guidelines:

• Before the helicopter takes off, civil aviation must be notified 48 hours in advance. Because the helicopter doesn’t have a set course. As a result, when a helicopter travels through the sky, the tower must be ready so that contact can be immediately established.
• Pilots frequently neglect to enter other countries’ borders without permission because there are no specified routes. This is quite hazardous. If the tower is ready, this problem can be avoided. In an emergency, however, 5, 10, 15, or even an hour is permissible.
• According to Civil Aviation Authority regulations, each helicopter is limited to a range of 600 kilometers.
• Helicopters can transport up to six people. One is the pilot. The helicopter’s maximum speed limit will be 190 kilometers per hour after the flight.
• In addition, private flights will be charged between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 per hour for ground waiting at the landing site.
• The concerned private airlines will pay the fuel and insurance bills after the flight.
